CAS reduces ban of Ukrainian gymnast Oleg Vernaiev

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has published a press release on the appeal against the 4-year ban issued against Oleg Vernaiev by the Gymnasts Ethics Foundation Disciplinary Commission. In 2020 Vernaiev tested positive on the use of Meldonium. This lead to a 4-year ban.

In the appeal at the CAS Vernaiev argued that the positive test was caused by contaminated food products. The CAS panel consequently assessed the matter and reduced the ban from 4 to 2 years from 5 November 2020. This means that Vernaiev is now free to compete again.
